Today I will share with you how to host your own website with your domain name for free. It comprises of two things, buying a domain and hosting it. So let's jump into it.

Step 1: Buying Domain
  1. Visit website freenom for domains. Type the name you want as a domain and search. It will show different domains including the price on the right side.                                                                                                                                                                                                
  2. Click on get it now and add it to the cart. It will ask you for your Email ID and send verification mail to your id.
  3. Verify your email address, update your password and fill all the personal details. Now go to cart and there you will see your domain that you selected.
  4. On the right side, you will see a dropdown of duration for which the domain will be free. Select 12 months and then continue/Buy.
  5. Now go to services and select my domain. You will see your domain to be active.
  6. The last step is to go to the Network and sharing center and changing the DNS server as specified below.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Awesome! You have just completed your first step. Now you have the domain with your name for your website.

Step 2: Hosting using your own domain 
  • Visit 000webhost website and signup. Now login and a home page will open.
  • Click on build website and then click on Upload your Own Website. It will take you to the file manager. Upload all the files keeping the index.html file in root i.e. public_html.                                 
  • Go to website Manager and click on set web address.
  • A page will appear. Click on use my own Domain. Now type the domain name that you just bought into the field and click on Park Domain. If you scroll down you will see that your domain is parked.
  • Now go to the freenom website and login into your account. Now go to services and click my domain. Once the domain page opens click on Manage Domain. You will see something like this.
  • Now click on management tools and select Nameservers. Chose “Use custom name server and update as shown in the image below. Select on Change Nameservers. Now you have pointed the address to your domain.
  • Now go to 000webhost where you have parked the domain. Select Manage and recheck Nameservers You will see that waiting for nameservers has changed to your domain websites.

  • It may take time to display and link your website. If you do not see the list of domains appearing, go to manage and delete the domain. Again click on add domain and follow the steps to parking domain. This will link to the domain faster.

     Hurray, You have just hosted your own Website for free.
